"Securing Alameda" Grant
Secure Your Community with Our Grant
The Alameda Corridor Business Improvement District (ACBID) offers crime prevention and safety/security improvements through our “Securing Alameda” grant. These grants fund projects that will serve as a catalyst for safety and security investment along the corridor and to offset the costs of Lakewood Police recommendations.
The grants assist commercial property owners, business owners, and nonprofits with security improvements to the exterior of their location (which will benefit the Alameda corridor as a whole). Projects can include, but are not limited to: enhanced signage, lighting, fencing, video surveillance hardware, façade improvements, parking lot improvements, etc and must be approved before beginning work.
Let's Get Started: Applying for the Grant

- All grants are awarded on a competitive basis as funding allows.

Potential improvements
- Video and Natural Surveillance: upgrades or installation to maximize the visibility of a space. This makes it easy to identify an allowed user of a space versus one who is suspicious. Examples include interior and exterior security lighting upgrades or retrofits, including LED conversion and security cameras.
- Territorial Reinforcement and Access Control: measures that deter criminal activity and delineate private space. Examples include fencing, parking lot traffic calming, bollards, improved locks and alarms.
- Façade Improvements and Space Management: curb appeal measures to create public spaces that are attractive and well-maintained, and actively encourage the use of the space. Examples include improvements to signage that currently conveys neglect, replacing windows and doors, territorial and aesthetic landscaping and maintenance, graffiti management, and painting.
Recommendations for Success
- Attend our monthly Community Meetings and events to be granted higher priority.
- Prioritize the security impact of the project.
- Ensure compatibility of the project with the ACBID Corridor goals.
- Match some of the investment with a cash match.
- Start work within 30 days of grant approval and submit for reimbursement before the end of the calendar year.
- Assure long-term maintenance of the improvements, such as a signed maintenance plan agreement, and commitment to the Alameda location and to participation in Business Watch.

What Our Grant Recipients Say
“We were very excited to receive our Alameda Connects grant! Our exterior sign blade had our logo from 7 years ago on it, so we updated it to our “new” one to make our branding more uniform. We also got a sandwich board where we can have quotes of inspiration. We have had multiple shares of this on social media. This not only makes people feel inspired, but it also gives us more visibility.”

“We used our grant to upgrade the façade of our property facing Alameda with new LED architectural sconces. The new light improved our curb appeal, added illumination to the area, and helped us achieve our energy efficiency goals.”
