Learn More About the Band Line Up

Dennis Valasquez
Dennis started playing the Native American flute about thirty years ago. With no formal training, he just grabbed a Native American Flute and began playing. Dennis now has an array of four favorite flutes he likes to play. He plays from the heart in an improvisational style, whatever he’s feeling at the time. During the pandemic, he often played for the neighbors on his front porch and has continued that tradition.
Las Dahlias
Mariachi Las Dahlias is a Colorado-based female music group that performs music from our Mexican and LatinX heritage. The group performs Mariachi repertoire, music from or inspired by Latin America and a few original works. Las Dahlias consists of 6 members with a variety of backgrounds, cultures, and music careers. The mission of Las Dahlias is to promote female representation and share music of Mexican influence throughout the state of Colorado. Career highlights include performances at the Inaugural Ball of Jared Polis, the Governor’s Mansion for leaders in the LatinX community, the Crested Butte Music Festival, and the Major League Baseball All-Star Week.
Tonewood
Tonewood sounds utterly unique, without ever straying from that high lonesome sound. They embrace bluegrass tradition with soaring vocal harmonies, blistering instrumental fireworks, and ear-catching melodies. But they seamlessly blend in Middle Eastern melodies, Cajun rhythms, and impressive group improvisations, giving a voice to each band member’s unique musical influences.
Based in Denver, CO, the band consists of George Sepmeier (fiddle, mandolin), Evan Shely (guitar), Elijah Donovan (banjo), Matt Thomas (upright bass), and Steve Lisi (cajon). Tonewood String Band will release their debut full-length album, Heart of the Pretender, in November of 2025.

Pennies on the Track
Pennies on the Track delivers rich vocal harmony and heartfelt songwriting with a dynamic mix of covers and original music. Whether performing, Denver, the Pacific Northwest, the Great Lakes, or beyond, this acoustic trio makes its home on Colorado’s Front Range. Pennies music fits nicely around campfires, in breweries, on festival stages and amphitheaters, offering songs to put a smile on your lips.
High Lonesome
Combining a pleasing mash of mandolin, dobro, fiddle, guitar, and bass, High Lonesome, seeks to put a new spin on good old hard-driving bluegrass by way of tight harmonies, melodic original material, and an expansive reach that takes in music from various realms, including jazz and jam influences as well as traditional bluegrass. This year High Lonesome was named in Denver Westword’s – “Ten of the Top Colorado Bluegrass Bands” list, by Nick Hutchinson, along with some of their musical influences Hot Rize and Infamous Stringdusters. They will be releasing their long-anticipated debut album in November 2024.
