PROJECT DESCRIPTION

The City of Lakewood Stormwater Management Utility and the Alameda Corridor Business
Improvement District (ACBID) have teamed up on a project to show the importance of
protecting stormwater quality while beautifying the community through temporary, colorful,
and artistic public awareness designs placed at storm drains in Belmar.

Our goal is to educate the public that pollutants such as litter, pet waste, and chemicals that
end up in storm drains ultimately flow untreated into our creeks and rivers. We are looking for
designs that paint a picture of the importance of keeping the water in our creeks clean for
humans, fish, and wildlife. Designs should incorporate images of waterways- streams, rivers, or
wetlands.

Local artists are invited to create graphic or illustrated temporary public awareness designs that
reflect the theme “We’re All Downstream”. Designs will be installed in Belmar as part of
INSPIRE Arts Lakewood scheduled for May 25-June 30, 2024.

Local artists are invited to submit up to five (5) designs for consideration. Designs will be
printed on alumigraphic wrap material and placed on the pavement near storm drains.
